What’s the book about??
This book was rated #1 by Amazon in the 30 minute biography & memoir Short Reads in the Amazon Hot New Releases
This is a true story of a man who had COPD and had 6 months to live without a lung transplant. Thankfully a transplant came after 4 Dry Runs and this book is about the true trials and tribulations of this journey.
This book simply tells the trials and tribulations of a child stutterer. It gives children with this problem hope for the future and shows real life situations.
THIS BOOK goes through the life of a person whose kidneys fail and what their options are. It also details of what happens in a hospital if you're there for 2 weeks.
This book is about my experiences at Virginia Tech my freshman year and why these were some of the best years of my life. VA Tech Football is also included with stories from Coach Jerry Claiborne to Frank Beamer. There's also a special chapter on VA Tech legend, Mike Burnop.
It all begins with an idea.

What an interesting book by Harry Collins about how close he was to death and what led up to him having to not only have a bilateral lung transplant, but has survived for over 14 years! Not only is the book serious at times, it also has the reader laughing! Harry has a wonderful outlook on life, seeing how close he was to death! We should all live our lives like him! Because we never know when we will take our last breath! I really recommend this book to everyone! And, all ages need to read it, too!”

“I liked how he went in detail about the procedure he went through and after surgery rehab. And how his son sacrificed his life to help his dad through this medical experience. All came out good. Praise the Lord.”

“This is a great short read about an amazing second chance at life for a wonderful human being. I can’t imagine what this must have been like but this book takes you through the ups and downs.”

“A lot of good information for anyone who has a family member who stutters or knows someone who stutters. It's also very entertaining and inspirational! The author has a great sense of humor, even when telling his lifetime experience! I love the fact that the book doesn't have a lot of pages repeating everything, but is able to get all the information needed to know in a 40 page book! I highly recommend this book.”

I know exactly what he went through , because I also was a child stutter . Unless you are a stutter or have been one its hard to believe what they go through. Some people might make fun of you, you get embarrassed when you can not get a word out, you withdraw from conversations and it can affect you emotionally.

This man has gone through so much, and still has a good sense of humor! This book is really interesting because it really let's the reader know the symptoms and how to deal with kidney disease/ kidney failure, which seems to be really common nowadays, esp with the older generation! Also, what to expect regarding the ER and at times doctors and nurses! All of his books are easy to read and so informative! I've reread his books a couple of times and seem to get even more information the second time around! I highly recommend this book for everyone to read, too! He's definitely a survivor! I hope he will be writing more books in the future! I know I'll be.”

about harry
Harry is an author, poet, short story writer, speaker, businessman and survivor. Harry was diagnosed with COPD and had a bilateral lung transplant at Duke University Medical Center in March 2010. The most important thing in his life is his family, wife, children and grandchildren. He has 4 children, 2 step children, and 13 grandchildren. When he had his transplant, he only had 2 grandchildren. That shows what great things happen with transplants. He had the chance and honor to meet 11 more grandchildren after his transplant. He started writing to share his experiences with others that may be experiencing the same problems he faced.

Thank you so much Roy and I guarantee the feeling is mutual Buddy!! You are one of the best ever!!
I want to share my perspectives about an incredible person that destiny led he and I to meet around Christmas 2009. In late 2009, the NC COPD
Taskforce had undertaken a project to target COPD in Davidson County, and was looking for a patient spokesman. Well, along came Harry. I met Harry in
his room at Duke University Hospital during pulmonary rounds, after his emergent transfer for severe COPD seeking a lung transplant. After 3 dry
runs, Harry Collins received a lung transplantation on March 10, 2010.
Around the time of his transplant, Harry and his oxygen tank were shown on a I-85 billboard near the barbecue capital of NC -- Lexington. Somehow or
another, we arrived at ‘Smoke Pigs, Not Cigs’ - the billboard was shown for 3 months. Interestingly, as a consequence of increased awareness, the
prevalence of COPD and acute care visits went up over the next year in Davidson County - the beginning of Harry’s journey to make a difference for COPD
and lung transplantation patients. Harry went on to present his journey at various state and regional COPD and lung transplant conferences. Harry is now
on the Board of the Lung Transplant Foundation to continue his advocacy for patients. Harry was one of 2 patients that presented their story at our recent
conference. Well, when I see Harry present at conferences, he cries every time, I tell him he is a cry baby, but so am I, I cry inside every time because of his
story and his big heart. Harry has written 4 books about different aspects of himself including My 2nd Chance at Life; and Life as a Stuttering Child. You
can find his books on Amazon, I am in one of them, I consider it the proudest achievement of my life.”
